29 Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation The Foundation, established in 1984, is housed in the Bank’s former administrative building, dating back to 1936. It presents the Cypriot civilisation in the fields of archaeology, history, art, literature, and the environment through permanent and temporary exhibitions, lectures, publications, and international collaborations. It houses four permanent collections: the Contemporary Art Collection, the Cyprus Map Collection, the Manuscripts and Rare Books Collection, the Engraving, Old Photographs and Watercolours Collection. Established in partnership between the A. G. Leventis Foundation and the Municipality of Lefkosia, this award-winning museum has been Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation welcoming visitors since 1989. Through its extensive collections of more than 10,000 exhibits, including maps, documents, paintings, etchings and costumes, the museum presents the history of the capital across seven major periods: Chalcolithic, Byzantine, Frankish, Venetian, Ottoman, British, and modern.
