ΤΟ ΣΠΙΤΙ ΣΤΗΝ ΑΡΧΑΙΟΤΗΤΑ ΧΟΙΡΟΚΟΙΤΙΑ Ο προϊστορικός οικισμός της Χοιροκοιτίας ιδρύθηκε στα τέλη της 7ης χιλιετίας π.Χ., κατά την προκεραμική νεολιθική περίοδο. Η εξαιρετική αρχιτεκτονική του οικισμού είναι εμφανής στα κατάλοιπα των κτισμάτων. Η κάθε οικία αποτελείται από ένα σύνολο οικοδομημάτων σε σχήμα κυκλικό με επίπεδη στέγη. Τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιούνταν ήταν κυρίως λάσπη, άψητοι πλίνθοι και πέτρα. Οι νεκροί της Χοιροκοιτίας θάβονταν σε συνεσταλμένη στάση, σε λάκκους στο εσωτερικό της κατοικίας, μαζί τα κτερίσματά τους. Ο οικισμός ανήκει στον Κατάλογο Παγκόσμιας Κληρονομιάς της ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ. THE HOME IN ANTIQUITY CHOIROKOITIA The prehistoric settlement of Choirokoitia was established at the end of the 7th millennium BC, during the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period. The exceptional architecture of the settlement can be seen from the remains of the buildings. Each house consisted of a set of circular structures with flat roofs. The materials used were mainly mud, unbaked bricks and stone. The inhabitants buried their dead curled up on their side (flexed burial) in pits inside their houses, together with their grave goods. The settlement is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
