National Strategy on Cyprus Diaspora 2023-2028

National Strategy on Cyprus Diaspora | 39 Objectives: u Upgrade the role of our schools and modernise them in order to attract Diaspora children; improve their organisation, building facilities, and use of modern technological means. u Increase opportunities for experiential education of young people. Only by “experiencing” Cyprus, will young people love and appreciate their roots and their cultural identity. u Promote and encourage the participation of our expatriates in various programmes offered, especially in relation to the Greek language. u Enrich actions promoting our culture with the assistance of technology and social media. In addition to its religious duties, the church carries out social, charitable and educational work, actively supporting both Cypriots abroad and the Centre. All this shows that the value of our culture is timeless and priceless. Only through the preservation of the cultural identity of our Diaspora will the "Cyprus Diaspora" survive. Therefore, we must strengthen and intensify our actions as much as possible, in full cooperation with our organisations and with institutions such as the church. “ Expatriates are another Cyprus abroad. In order to maintain their cultural identity, they rely on three basic principles that they have to adhere to in the countries where they live: Their religion, language, tradition, culture and customs. Moreover, it is necessary to maintain frequent contact with their homeland. The youth must get to know the country of origin of their ancestors and maintain contact with the centre. That is why our organisations promote these through organised communities. Michalis Christodoulou AM, Federation of Cyprus Communities of Australia and New Zealand
