Cosmetics The SGL is also the official laboratory for the quality control of cosmetics, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Services of the Ministry of Health.  Chemical control (Determination of preservatives (methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, isopropyl-, butyl- and isobutyl- parabens, sorbic and benzoic acid), presence of Phthallic Esters, Glycols (Ethylene glycol, Diethylene glycol), Fluoride, Oxidative dyes, bleaching agents (such as Hydroquinone, Hydroquinone - monomethyl ether, 29 Hydroquinone-monobenzyl ether) Lidocaine, Benzocaine, heavy metals, NDELA, Free Formaldehyde, Para-Phenylenediamine (PPD), Allergens, Hydrogen Peroxide, Triclosan, Methylchloroisothiazolinone / Methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MI), Acetone in acetone-free nail polish removers).  Microbiological control (Presence/absence of Escherichia coli , Presence/absence of Staphylococcus aureus , presence/absence Pseudomonas aeruginosa , presence/absence of Candida albicans , total aerobic microbial count).
