Glyn Hughes 1931 - 2014

227 We submit works by Glyn Hughes and Christoforos Savva to the old and new generation. Our private and silent contract with Glyn Hughes in relation to the herewith collection of artworks and related objects concerning their artistic relationship, is hereby fulfilled. Along the way, we acted merely as messengers to his word and memory. We are not historians and did not act as visual artists but only as friends and art collectors who wanted the real story behind the image. Our role helped us to stay focused and to chase the details. All the questioning has been purposefully left out to allow the stories to gently move through time. Both Vaso and I, treasure the process that helped us to re-confirm how knowledge of art history, in conjunction with the right mind and soul, can prove catalytic to progress. We did not have the good fortune of meeting Savva but now a small part of him will stay with us forever and guide us to new paths. We present their work, their friendship and their collaboration in going from zero to one with great admiration and we hope that their relationship will re-position their story and help others to search for their own truth using tools from their back rooms, light from their own sky and colours from their own garden. Charalambos and Vaso Sergiou The account of events that follows has been recorded as narrated by Glyn Hughes to Charalambos and Vaso Sergiou during the period May 1997 – May 1998.
