Kavo Gkreko Visitor Centre

The Kavo Gkreko Visitor Centre was created by the Department of Forests and is located in the heart of the homonymous National Park, on the road network that leads both from Ayia Napa and Protaras, to Cape Greco. The building, an impressive and innovative structure, resulted from an international architectural competition and has won the 2016 State Architecture Prize. The building houses a café and a small souvenir shop. The Centre provides visitors with an opportunity to experience the natural heritage of both the marine and terrestrial environments of the National Park and the Natura 2000 homonymous area, through various exhibits and audiovisual material. Exhibitions at the Centre include collections of shells, butterflies, wild birds, mammals, reptiles, fossils and a dwarf hippopotamus skeleton which extinct from Cyprus about 13,000 years ago. Visitors also have the chance to see three large aquaria with various fish and aquatic plants of the surrounding marine area. Your visit to the Kavo Gkreko Visitor Center can be combined with an outdoor meal at the park's picnic site, swimming at the famous “Konnos” beach or walking one of the park’s many trails to admire popular attractions of Cyprus such as the “Kamara tou Koraka”, the sea caves, the Cave of Cyclops and “Kavos”. You can get to the Centre by car or you can take the OSEA buses no. 101 and 102, starting from Ayia Napa and Paralimni respectively, each stopping 50 meters away from the Centre, every 15-20 minutes.
