Of various types, they bring together stakeholders from their respective sectors, trades and crafts, with shared concerns or working on specific projects or topics. Networks are primarily a means of operating where the members all interact in an often informal, but always constructive way. Most frequently, they provide their members with a platform for information and discussion on all questions of common interest. Some have formed a federation, some are part of international think tanks, but the main networks must be acknowledged as partners and ensure that the voice of the heritage sector is heard. Networking is dynamic in itself: networks disappear; others are created or need to be created.
