In view of its unique richness and diversity, it is an important factor in the identity and attractiveness of the continent. It testifies to the political, cultural, artistic, scientific, spiritual, philosophical and commercial exchanges which have formed our European identity. It thus leads to a better understanding of ourselves and of others.
